if you browse the web and check for old Fender guitars you will notice that old Nitrate guards looks often very clean even on guitars that show a lot of signs of wear and tear...some have still the original color, some have light discoloration overall, some have discoloration under the stringarea some left and right of the strings! There is no "ONE" ageing you will see they are all different!

The original guards were buffed by hand and celluloid nitrate softens easily under intense friction - Because of this hand finishing, many original guards have a bevel which is extra rounded in some spots, and sharper in others.

Some old guards are quite scuffed up, but it's not dull like it's been sanded, it still has that vintage sheen. It also has a particularly rounded bevel edge at the top corner.

Btw. there is no "ONE" guard that used all those years, the guards itself was different, in colors and thickness incl. the thickness of the black middle layer... The manufacturing process (lot) color or the sheets vary in the years!
